Gill's 63 off 49 and Rashid's 4 off 24 were significant highlights of the match as the newcomers Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for IPL 2022. GT had won the toss and elected to bat first at a pitch which wasn't ideal for stroke playing and lofted shots. LSG's Debutant Karan Sharma had dropped the catch of Gill at the third man otherwise the result of the match would have been something else. The unpredictable 'anchor' or/and 'aggressor' Saha went for cheap. Wade finally returned to the Titans and looked promising as he hit Chameera for two successive fours but was caught behind while playing his trademark 'lap shot'.

Shubman Gill often described as the future of Indian Cricket played magnificent strokes against both spin and pace and was mainly targeting the point, deep mid-wicket and deep square leg region and adjusted his role from an aggressor to an anchor and vice versa throughout the whole innings. Miller Contributed crucial runs but played a short and sluggish inning. Avesh and Mohsin were very economical as the former returned with 2/26 and later with 1/18 and Krunal had lept GT tight in the middle overs.

LSG completely failed in the batting department due to poor strings of partnerships and both the top order and middle order failed to chase an attainable target. Rashid's web of spin trapped the middle order of the LSG as he returned with the figures of 4 off 24.
